It’s time for YOU
A pivotal point…
The decisions you make about your health at midlife have an important impact on your health in your later years. There is a real opportunity to take control of your health now to prevent chronic disease and to optimize health to take you vibrantly into your 80s and beyond!
It’s never too late!
Even in your 80s and 90s, building muscle, strengthening bone, and improving metabolism can all be done! The year on your birth certificate just doesn’t matter!
You may have spent years (decades!) giving to others…whether it be family, friends, your job, pets…take this time to assess and take charge of your health (so you can be there for others!) for many healthy years to come.
Staying young at heart! Taming heart disease - the number one killer of women.
The hormonal changes that occur during menopause can bring increased cardiovascular risk in the form of higher blood pressure and increased cholesterol levels. Arteries become stiffer and thicker becoming more vulnerable to disease.
But there is a LOT you can do to reduce the risk. Eating a heart healthy diet, incorporating physical activity into your life, getting quality sleep and managing stress are proven ways to improve heart health and keep you healthier for longer!
It’s what you can’t see!
We can see many changes that occur with aging…grey hair, deeper smile lines and crows feet…but it’s what we may not see that presents the most risk. Changes in your heart, metabolism (blood sugar, etc.) , and bone loss all occur silently but can have profound effects on your health as you age. Let’s look at the components of exercise, nutrition and lifestyle management that can set you up for several successful decades of getting older!
Minding midlife metabolism - It’s not in your head! Things are different now!
Changes in metabolism are a real thing when women hit menopause. These changes can be attributed to the natural aging process, loss of muscle mass, decreases in hormone levels and other lifestyle factors such as sleep (disturbances!), lower levels of physical activity, and possible changes in diet.
Let’s explore together the changes you can make to recharge and renew your metabolic fire!
Step up for bone health! Osteoporosis - the “silent disease”.
The stats aren’t good! Each year an estimated 1.5 million individuals suffer a fracture due to bone disease. For those over 50 who suffer a hip fracture, approximately 4% will die in the hospital and 24% will die within the year.
Let’s find ways to reduce your risk together. Let’s examine your risk factors; discuss diet, lifestyle and exercise; and design a plan that will keep you standing tall and preventing falls!
Let’s work together!
